Testimonials from Clients

Oscar is the complete package: trainer, climber, and mentor. He’s extremely strong and experienced, but not every strong, experienced climber is a good trainer or mentor. I think what makes Oscar an amazing trainer is that he’s empathetic. He understands his clients, their strengths and weaknesses, and their goals. From there he can pull from his encyclopedic knowledge of climbing training to guide his clients to improve steadily and healthily. There’s no one I’d recommend more for getting stronger and more stoked on climbing. I’d be surprised if he doesn’t end up training olympians one day (if society doesn’t collapse in the meantime).

It’s an absolute blast to climb and train with Oscar. His energy and psych are infectious. He has a super laid back style, but he also has a way of getting you to try harder than you thought possible without being pushy or toxic. He leads by example and is fully 100% locked in with his clients.

I’d been climbing for a long time before I started training with Oscar in 2024. I had oscillated between periods of regular climbing and dry spells. As a result, I’d been stuck at a plateau for years and years. Oscar took me from a confident outdoor 5.11d to sending overhung 5.12c in Rifle, CO in literally less than 6 months of training.

As much as I like sending harder, higher grades are not even in the top five things I’ve gotten out of my time with Oscar. He reignited my joy of climbing, he’s given me a new perspective on training, and we’ve made unforgettable fond memories both in the city and at the crag.

Oscar is a patient, kind, and highly responsible trainer. I highly recommend working with him for anyone interested in developing a deeper relationship with climbing whether it’s bouldering or sport, indoor or outdoor, recreational or competitive.

Oscar’s breath of knowledge and experience coach is something that can’t be overstated. His focus on technique, strength, and approach are interconnected and he takes the time to understand what will work best for you as a client. Even after our first consultation, he had a clear vision of what aspects of my climbing, long and short term, he wanted to address.

Oscar has been integral in my climbing experience. When I started climbing, I had no idea what I was doing and no plan overall. I could barely climb a v2. Oscar instilled good climbing techniques early on and pushed me to not only learn in the gym, but to climb outdoors. He taught me fundamentals as well as taught me to play to my strengths while building up my weak areas. He not only taught me how to climb well, but also to have fun and climb safely. He not only improved my bouldering but also helped me learn how to lead climb, both indoors and outdoors. I would still be a v2 gym climber if it weren't for Oscar.

Oscar has been a great help in my climbing! I approached him for some help on what I would consider my main weakness in climbing to be: overhung climbing and trying hard on crimps. As a climbing PT that sees and trains clients all the time for finger injuries, i felt very confident following my own finger strengthening routine, but felt that applying that strength on the wall was definitely lacking. Oscar works one on one with you and creates boulders on the spray wall that really tackle your low hanging fruit, finding small tweaks to progress or regress in difficulty to make sure you’re trying just at your limit without things feeling discouraging. He also offers great insight in off the wall training to supplement your climbing specific goals. If you want to seriously make gains in your climbing, he’s the guy!

I usually don’t write reviews, but I had to because of how much I’ve improved in just two months. I deal with a lot of self-doubt, so I needed someone who could point out my strengths and keep me motivated, without sugarcoating things. He’s not afraid to call out my weaknesses, which is exactly what I need.
He knows his stuff when it comes to getting better. His understanding of technique is on another level, and he catches things I never would’ve noticed on my own. He also mixes in stretching and weightlifting, which has helped me hit get injured while still training hard. On top of all that, he’s just really fun to be around.
Highly recommend — 5/5 stars!

I’ve been friends with and trained with Oscar for several years now and have rarely met anyone as dedicated to and knowledgeable about climbing as him. He pulls from his wide experience with climbers of many different skill levels to tailor training individually, targeting exactly the areas that need improvement the most to meet your goals. He’s also just a hilarious, kind, gregarious dude which makes training with him as fun socially as it is rewarding athletically.
